Leeds United keen to add new left-back in coming days after Leif Davis Elland Road exit

Leeds United keen to sign a new left-back “in the coming days” after Leif Davis joined Ipswich on a permanent deal according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The East Anglian Times has revealed (25 July) that the Whites received a seven-figure fee for the left-back after Ipswich beat some top-end Championship sides to his signature.

Davis’ departure means Junior Firpo is the only senior left-back currently on the books at Elland Road and the YEP has suggested on Tuesday 26 July that the club are keen to add a new player to their ranks in the coming days.

Priority

A new left-back now has to be a priority position for the Whites to target, with the 2022/23 Premier League season just a matter of weeks away.

Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross revealed (26 July) that Victor Orta has a short list of potential left-back options to choose from, although no names are currently in the public domain.

It is now quite clear where Leeds need to improve heading into the new season with a striker the other key area for Jesse Marsch to focus on.

Firpo’s inconsistent time at Elland Road so far means that the American simply has to add another full-back to his ranks to provide competition to the former Barcelona man.

After the YEP’s suggestion, Leeds fans should certainly expect a new addition quickly considering the speed Orta and the club hierarchy have worked at so far in the summer window.

Could we see Marsch target another player that he has previously worked with?

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have submitted a fresh bid to sign their first-choice target this summer as a Champions League club has pulled out of the deal.
