Leeds United to battle Southampton in transfer race for Coventry City star Callum O’Hare

Leeds United have joined the race to sign Coventry City star Callum O’Hare this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The online source reported [13 June] that Southampton and Burnley are set to rival Leeds for the 26-year-old midfielder, who notched six goals and three assists in the Championship last season.

O’Hare is set to leave Coventry on a free transfer this summer, having turned down a new deal with the Sky Blues, prompting multiple clubs to take notice, with Leeds now ready to enter the race.

Could Leeds United sign Callum O’Hare this summer?

The 26-year-old is an extremely talented midfielder and could fit Daniel Farke’s system at Elland Road, especially if someone like Georginio Rutter were to leave this summer.

He is primarily an attacking midfielder, but like Rutter and Joel Piroe, can deputise further forward in a centre-forward role if called upon.

O’Hare has expressed his desire to leave Coventry this summer, especially having not signed a new deal with the club after four years there, and could find a good solution at Elland Road.

Due to Leeds missing out on promotion to the Premier League, losing the Championship play-off final to Southampton, the club could see one or two high-profile players depart.

Crysencio Summerville, Rutter, Archie Gray and Wilfried Gnonto are all players who have been linked with moves away, and with Leeds still needing to pay off unpaid transfer fees, some savvy free transfers may be a good way to go.

O’Hare, on a free transfer, would be a very good coup this summer and would express to the other teams in the league that promotion is the main priority next season under Farke.

The Whites can certainly rebuild after the heartbreak at Wembley. However, a second season in the Championship could be detrimental, so promotion must be secured at the second time of asking.
