Leeds United intend to sign new midfielder in January amid major Kalvin Phillips blow
Leeds United want to sign new players in the January transfer window, The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has reported.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side has been decimated by injuries this season and Hay has suggested that a new midfielder could be signed with David Ornstein reporting on The Athletic website on Monday that Kalvin Phillips is set to spend at least the next two months on the sidelines.
When asked if he’s heard any noises from inside the club about additions in January, Hay replied on The Athletic website: “The intention is there after the injury to Phillips. But it will depend on budget and available options.

“You know the drill. “
Show us the money
Leeds were desperate for midfield reinforcements in the summer but despite failed attempts at landing Conor Gallagher and Lewis O’Brien, no one was brought in.
However, the club clearly did have funds to spend with Victor Orta agreeing a club record £30million package to land winger Daniel James from Manchester United.
We could have gotten by without James, in all honesty. He’s started to show his worth for the Whites but in truth, we needed a midfielder before we needed him.

Adam Forshaw’s return to the side and return to form has helped massively but there are worries about Mateusz Klich’s form and Stuart Dallas has been needed in the full-back roles due to the lack of options there.
That means that with Phillips now out for at least a couple of months, options are very tight and someone absolutely must come in next month.
It remains to be seen how much Leeds will have to spend but we imagine the club will have enough to sign someone worthy of a regular spot in Bielsa’s starting line-up.
In other Leeds United news, the Daily Mail has reared its ugly head again with a disgraceful story about this Whites ace.
