Leeds United instalments emerge after Diego Llorente transfer announcement

Leeds United are set to receive three instalments from Real Betis after the sale of Diego Llorente, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish outlet reported via its website on 10 July that the overall fee would add up to around £2.74million once fully paid off.

Llorente has returned to his home country and has signed a four-year deal taking his stay with Manuel Pellegrini’s side to 2028.

Has the sale of Diego Llorente been worthwhile?

Although the vast majority of Leeds fans expected to see the back of Llorente this summer, it’s doubtful that many expected the Spaniard to leave for such a minimal fee.

Back in 2020, the former Real Madrid man joined the Whites for a fee worth around £18m and although at times he was good, he never really managed to live up to his price tag.

Before departing Elland Road this season, the defender had spent the last 18 months on loan to Serie A side Roma.

His reluctance to move was the only stumbling block in an agreement between both Roma and Leeds.

Although the money that Daniel Farke has received from his sale is minimal, it could still help towards another defensive target this summer.
