Leeds United in talks with representatives of Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto, he's destined to move
Leeds United are in talks with the representatives of FC Zurich and Italy striker Wilfried Gnonto, according to Italian journalist Orazio Accomando.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Thursday (18 August), the DAZN Italia journalist claimed that Leeds are “constantly pressing” to sign the 18-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract at Swiss champions Zurich.
It is understood that Gnonto is “destined” to leave Zurich this summer but the Italy international probably won’t be joining a club in Serie A.
Pace, pace and more pace
If there’s one thing that Gnonto can add to the Leeds attack – it’s pace.
He’s only 18 years old so we’d assume that his technical abilities are only going to continue improving over the years.

But physically, he’s quite the specimen.
As quoted by LeedsLive, Italy manager Roberto Mancini is a massive fan of Gnonto due to the pace that he possesses.
“He’s so quick and can do everything. He’s a forward with a quality that we didn’t have before and he will improve a lot,” said Italy’s manager.
Gnonto made his debut for Italy in June and scored on his fourth cap, becoming Italy’s youngest goalscorer of all time.
The former Inter Milan speed demon has also won the Swiss Super League title with FC Zurich and has started this season by scoring in a Europa League qualifier against Linfield.
Leeds could be onto a winner by signing the Zurich teenager.
Let’s hope this is a deal that Victor Orta can wrap up because we doubt that Leeds are the only club pursuing a deal.
