Leeds United in talks with Brighton to sign Facundo Buonanotte in last-gasp loan deal

Leeds United have opened talks with Brighton about a last-gasp loan deal for midfielder Facundo Buonanotte, according to Last Word on Sports.

Writing on their official website (1 September), the news outlet report that the teenager is now free to leave the AMEX Stadium after the signing of Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona was confirmed.

Buonanotte is also attracting the interest of another unnamed club, as Leeds look to seal a late loan deal before the 11pm deadline.

“Last Word on Football understands exclusively from our sources that Leeds United are now in contact with Brighton & Hove Albion over signing teenager Facundo Buonanotte on loan,” they wrote.

“It is understood that there is also one other club interested.”

Exciting

Daniel Farke admitted that the club were going to be awake until the final seconds of the window, and this could be the reason why.

Several outgoings have been tipped for deadline day, but no incoming were expected after the signings of Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev were confirmed on Thursday night.

But Buonanotte was reportedly a target earlier in this window and now that his availability has changed with Brighton, it’s something that would make sense to explore again.

Currently the number ten options in the squad are Joe Gelhardt and Crysencio Summerville so this is certainly a deal that would fill a gap in the squad for the boss.

There isn’t much time so don’t hold your breath on it happening, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on in the final hours of the transfer window as Leeds look to boost their squad one last time to push for promotion to the Premier League.
