Leeds United in talks to sign Alex Nubel from Bayern Munich as buyback twist emerges

Leeds United are locked in talks to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alex Nubel after the player was transfer listed, according to Abendzeitung.

The German newspaper reported in their print edition on Friday (page 18, 14 July) that the Whites are joined in their pursuit of the 26-year-old by Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart, while Bayern would like to impose a buyback clause in any deal.

The goalkeeper has spent the past two years out on loan at AS Monaco, where he kept 24 clean sheets in 97 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

Solid

This looks like it would be an extremely good piece of business if Leeds can manage to pull off a deal for the goalkeeper, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Elland Road club are offering £6.8million.

Although Nubel has only featured four times at Bayern in three years, he has gone out on loan for a considerable amount of time and got great experience at Monaco, where he was an ever-present and played in two European campaigns for the club.

The Bundesliga giants obviously still believe in his potential as well, given that they are looking to impose a buyback clause in any potential deal.

The Whites need to bring a quality keeper in as they look to build from the back and this would be a solid addition to play in the Championship.

The influence of Daniel Farke may also be a factor in persuading his fellow German to sign on at Elland Road.
