Leeds United in talks over fee and add-ons to sign Daniel James permanently
Leeds United are working on an agreement with Manchester United to sign Daniel James permanently, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Reporting via his personal Twitter account on Monday, the Sky Sports Italy journalist said that the Whites are trying to agree a “final fee and add-ons” for James, 23, as the move is going to be permanent.
Romano had earlier reported that Leeds are “in advanced talks” over signing the Wales and Man United forward.
Huge
Leeds fans, did you expect this?
James came so close to joining us from Swansea a couple of years ago – he even chose a shirt number after passing a medical and agreeing terms.
But now, in August 2021, it seems as though the Wales international could finally become a Leeds United player.
Wow.
Leeds need to sign a new winger before the transfer window closes because Ian Poveda has been loaned out and Helder Costa’s form in the Premier League has been well short of what’s been required.
James is someone who has matured at Man United, earned experience in the Premier League and Champions League and is easily a better player now than he was at Swansea in the Championship.
Marcelo Bielsa clearly likes the ex-Swans winger, who’s versatile and has an abundance of pace and skill.
Imagine bringing him off the bench and attacking teams with him and Raphinha in the dying stages of games – they won’t stand a chance.
We’re looking forward to this one but of course, there’s plenty of work to be done.
