Leeds United ‘in pole position’ to seal Alex Moreno transfer amid Real Betis update
Leeds United’s transfer window so far has been heavily influenced by the futures of both Junior Firpo and Alex Moreno.
The pair of former Real Betis left-backs are both hotly tipped to exit their clubs this summer, with their former employers lining up potential moves to bring them both back to La Liga.
Firpo is out of contract this summer, while Moreno is set to be sold by Aston Villa, having spent the previous season out on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Daniel Farke and Co. seem resigned to losing Firpo, with Moreno being lined up as an immediate replacement for their departing star as they seek to make an effective jump up to the Premier League next term.

Real Betis have not yet approached Villa over Moreno
Firpo’s Elland Road exit now seems an inevitability before next season gets underway.
The 28-year-old has received a contract offer from Betis, who want to bring him back to the club as they prepare for a Europa League campaign next term. The Dominican Republic international has also caught the eye of Lazio, as it seems as though he has already played his final game in a Whites shirt.
However, the West Yorkshire outfit’s hopes of signing Moreno as his former teammate’s replacement have now been handed a major boost.
Leeds been quoted a price in the region of £5million after approaching Aston Villa over a potential deal for Moreno, and now it has emerged that they are already one step ahead of Betis in the race to sign the 32-year-old.
The Spanish giants want to sign Moreno, irrespective of their pursuit of Firpo, but are yet to approach Villa over the possibility of a move, according to Estadio Deportivo (17 June).

Leeds are surely now in pole position to sign Moreno
Following the latest developments from Sevilla, Farke’s side are now surely in pole position to secure Moreno’s signature.
Both the German boss and the 49ers will know that several additions will be needed if they are to compete to avoid the drop, and one of their main priorities would undoubtedly have been bringing in a capable replacement for Firpo.

They seemingly have that in Moreno, as the left-back can provide plenty of top-level experience, something which Leeds are crucially lacking in at present.
The Whites now have the upper hand in the race to sign the Villa man, and they already know that he will be available for what is a very reasonable price by Premier League standards.
Leeds should now take this boost and press on with their bid to sign the Spanish defender, knowing that his signing could solve one of their biggest dilemmas of the summer.
