Leeds United in hot pursuit of Karamoko Dembele amid UEFA update
Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Karamoko Dembele from new Champions League outfit Brest, who have received an order from UEFA, according to the Blackpool Gazette.
The French side qualified for the elite competition last season but have now been ordered to play their games 70 miles away due to stadium regulations.
After spending a season on loan at Blackpool, Dembele could return to Brest to play in the Champions League or may now be sold.
The 21-year-old has been linked to various Premier League and Championship sides with Leeds said to be “keen” on signing the attacker.
He has a contract that lasts until the summer of 2026 but the newspaper reported (6 June) that the situation is “unsure” whether he will stay at Brest or leave during this window.
Leeds United want Karamoko Dembele
Dembele burst onto the scene as a youngster in the Celtic academy catching the eye on social media as he played for their under-20s at just 13.
He signed his first professional contract at 15 years old before making his debut less than a year later against Hearts.
Things went a bit pear-shaped after this as he made just nine further appearances in all competitions across the next three seasons.
He joined Brest in Ligue 1 in a surprising move where he made just 18 appearances in two years [FotMob] before moving to Blackpool in League One last season.
Dembele showed the ability that his potential had pointed two with an excellent season for the Tangerines.

With eight goals and 13 assists across 29 starts and an additional 10 substitute appearances, the Englishman caught the eye for all the right reasons.
Although there is interest from the Premier League, a move to a side like Leeds next season could make sense for his development.
If the early stages of his career have shown him anything it is that he shouldn’t run before he should walk. Signing on at Elland Road could prove to be beneficial for all parties.
