Leeds United in for AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez as cut-price transfer news emerges
Leeds United have rekindled their interest in Santiago Gimenez, with AC Milan preparing to offload the striker in the January transfer window.
Daniel Farke may have prevented himself from getting fired after the Whites beat Chelsea 3-1 on Tuesday, as the German will certainly need to be backed if he is to stay at LS11.
Regardless of the situation with Farke, the 49ers need to have transfer targets in mind for January, with Leeds still in a battle to stay in the Premier League.
Leeds were keen on signing Gimenez in 2024, but the Mexican made a move from Feyenoord to AC Milan, where he is now struggling for minutes.
The Whites have clearly kept Gimenez in their sights, with a deal now looking more likely than ever, according to reports.
Leeds emerge as favourites to sign Santiago Gimenez
There have been concerns over Leeds’ attacking threat this season, with many questioning whether there is enough quality in the final third to keep the Whites up.
Despite a brilliant result against Chelsea recently, there could be another stage where Leeds will struggle for goals again.
Gimenez could be the man to prevent these issues from January onwards.
- Gimenez scored 65 goals for Feyenoord in 105 matches
- He cost AC Milan an initial £27.9m in the last winter transfer window
- Since moving to AC Milan, he has netted seven times in just 30 games
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Leeds have shown specific interest in Gimenez, with the Whites standing out as the determined candidate for the striker’s signature.
Leeds are said to be closely monitoring his situation at AC Milan, with a possibility of negotiating a loan deal or a cut-price transfer due to his lack of game time.

Multiple Premier League clubs are interested in signing Gimenez, but as it stands, the Whites’ proposal is reportedly the most concrete.
Leeds have fresh striker injury concerns
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now taken his tally up to three for the season, scoring in consecutive games against Manchester City and Chelsea.
Lukas Nmecha has four goals and had another ruled out in the Chelsea match, with both strikers looking like a threat when playing alongside one another.
However, the pair are carrying injury concerns and may not be available in the Whites’ next Premier League match.
Farke said, as quoted by Beren Cross: “Nmecha has hamstring problems. We have to assess him. Calvert-Lewin with calf problems. Question mark on him.”
Leeds need more additions in January, and they would only be helping their chances of survival if they were to bring Gimenez to LS11.
