Leeds United in advanced talks to sign Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow
Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Karl Darlow from Newcastle United on a permanent deal, according to journalist Graham Smyth.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (25 July), the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist is reporting that the club are closing in on a deal for a new goalkeeper despite reports of Bournemouth closing in on his signature.
But the Whites never gave up on a deal and worked on it all of last week, and have now entered the advanced stages of a deal.
“Leeds United are in advanced talks with Newcastle United for goalkeeper Karl Darlow,” he wrote. “Permanent deal.
“Club didn’t feel Bournemouth was ever a done deal for the keeper last week, liked their chances and kept working on the deal.”
Finally
There has been talk of a new goalkeeper arriving at Elland Road this summer and quickly too, and it finally seems to be taking shape.
With Bournemouth sealing a deal for Inter Milan stopper Ionut Radu on loan it left the path clear for Leeds to move, but it’s more than likely that the Whites’ successful pursuit is what forced Bournemouth to look elsewhere.

Leeds are expecting Illan Meslier to leave the club this summer and after Joel Robles’ exit it was seen as a priority position too.
Darlow brings a wealth of experience and hunger to the side, and will be keen to stake his claim as the number one stopper at a top club having been back up at Newcastle for so long.
Daniel Farke has got his target for the goalkeeper position and preparations for the new season which begins in about two weeks are starting to look much better too.
In other Leeds news, £5m release clause emerges as Whites want to sign international midfielder.
