Leeds United in advanced Dan James talks – Fabrizio Romano

Leeds United are in advanced negotiations over a deal to sign Manchester United winger Dan James, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist, writing via his personal Twitter profile on Monday afternoon, claims the Whites are also in discussions over personal terms for the 23-year-old.

He said: “Leeds are in advanced talks to sign Dan James from Manchester United on a permanent deal! Discussions are ongoing to complete the agreement. Talks also on personal terms.”

“Noa Lang rumours few days ago were ‘fake’ – never been close to Leeds in the last weeks.”

Major move

Leeds have a well-publicised long-standing interest in the Wales star after he nearly joined the Whites from Swansea City in 2019.

That move broke down at the eleventh hour but it seems that Bielsa’s admiration for him has not waned.

However, it’s a move that is unlikely to be well-received by those in West Yorkshire after he joined bitter rivals Manchester United just months after his aborted Elland Road move.

James hasn’t exactly lit up Old Trafford with his displays since joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but Bielsa clearly sees a use for him at Leeds.

Quite whether he would be attracted by a move, though, remains to be seen.

He surely wants to be guaranteed a place in the starting XI, but Raphinha and Jack Harrison are pillars of this Whites side under Bielsa and it will take a big push to get either of them out of the team.

But it seems there is a good chance of this happening, and now it’s down to all parties to get this over the line before Tuesday midnight.
