Leeds United hijack Harrison Burrows move to Sheffield United as official approach made
Leeds United have made contact with Peterborough United over a late move for Harrison Burrows, according to TBR Football.
Graeme Bailey reported via the outlet’s website on 23 July that the Posh captain was in “advanced talks” with Sheffield United but the Whites are now considering a late hijack attempt which has complicated matters.
Burrows, 22, is out of contract next year and has reportedly been told he will be sold this week with Bramall Lane the expected destination.
But Leeds are set to go up against the Blades to ensure it is Elland Road he leaves to and “official” contact has now been made.
Peterborough United captain wanted at Leeds United
Daniel Farke has addressed the weakness at right-back by signing Jayden Bogle from Bramall Lane and if he follows that up with a move for Burrows at left-back it would again be a blow to Chris Wilder.
Junior Firpo rebounded from two difficult years following his Barcelona move to have his best season at the club last term.
But his injury issues are well known and he only became a key man under Farke after returning for another long-term lay-off.
Firpo has been named as a candidate that the club are expected to sell this summer [Daily Mail, 1 July], while Sam Byram was a strong stand-in but has his own fitness concerns.

Burrows would be making a step up from League One but if the two current options remain he might form a group that finally addresses a long-standing failure to fully address the left-back position, after he scored 12 goals and assisted 18 more last season.
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony appeared to hint that the Whites were in for the defender when speaking on talkSPORT earlier on 23 July, and he would clearly know if they had been, but the Yorkshire Evening Post has followed up to report that no bid has been accepted from Elland Road.
Burrows is not the only Premier League target that Leeds are trying to steal in for either, after entering the race for Ipswich target Sammie Szmodics from Blackburn the same day [Alex Crook, 23 July].
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been given a matter of days to conclude a deal for a star goalscorer they want.
