Leeds United have wanted Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha for ‘some time’

Leeds United have wanted Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha for “some time,” according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Italian outlet reported on 29 July that despite Leeds’ long-term interest, the club are yet to find a solution to a deal.

It’s also stated that they had an initial bid worth around £2.5million rejected back in May and since then no further offers have been received.

Jordan Torunarigha transfer lined up at Leeds United?

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Leeds will be gunning for Premier League promotion this season.

The West Yorkshire outfit narrowly missed out last term after falling at the final hurdle and losing 1-0 to Southampton.

Leeds’ defence was one of their strongest points last term and, with the return of Joe Rodon now secured, they can once again start to build a strong backbone to their squad.

Jayden Bogle has also been added to Daniel Farke’s ranks but the Whites could still do with an additional body in their back line.

Sam Byram can play there if needed but his natural position is on the left side of the pitch and this seems to be where he’s most effective.

Torunarigha is just 26 years old and, especially with Leeds’ prior interest in the defender [Florian Plettenberg, 22 May], a move could to the Whites could be exactly what both parties need.

His versatility alongside his strength of the ball could find themselves of great use to Farke this summer, should a move occur.
