Leeds United have not received bids for Charlie Cresswell amid reported Rangers interest – Graham Smyth

Leeds United have not received any bids for Charlie Cresswell this summer despite reported interest from Rangers, according to Graham Smyth.

The young central defender spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Millwall and impressed while the Whites were relegated from the Premier League, which has sparked interest in his services.

But after reports from Football League World (19 June) that the club rejected a bid from SPFL giants Rangers, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Smyth (26 June) is reporting that the club didn’t receive a bid.

” Likewise, the club insists they have received no bids for centre-back Charlie Cresswell, despite reports to the contrary,” he wrote.

Future

Leeds are facing a real problem with their first-team squad for this summer because of the impending exodus of first-team stars.

That means that we need to ensure the young players that are ready for their breakthrough are given that opportunity and kept around.

Cresswell has been tipped for a huge future at Elland Road as it is, and after shining in the Championship with Millwall last season he has shown he is ready to step up now in the club’s time of need.

But the fact we haven’t actually been tested for a bid means fans can still be worried about his future when you consider that they were open to a sale in January.

Hopefully no bids do come in to ensure that we don’t move him on, but Cresswell is the future of this club and absolutely has to be in the club’s plans for next season.
