Leeds United have Danilho Doekhi decision to make amid Ousmane Diomande wish
Leeds United will soon have to make a decision on Danilho Doekhi, with the Whites also linked to Sporting CP's Ousmane Diomande.
Daniel Farke and his recruitment team have known about Doekhi for a while, as his situation with Union Berlin has been monitored.
The Dutchman is set to leave the Bundesliga once his contract expires this summer, which gives Leeds and others the chance to sign him permanently for free.
Doekhi has been a consistent performer in Germany for many years, and will have multiple clubs across Europe interested in him for good reason.
However, the Whites' pursuit of the 27-year-old may have taken a step back after recent links to Diomande.
Leeds have huge call amid Danilho Doekhi and Ousmane Diomande links
Leeds have a great chance to sign Doekhi on a free transfer, someone who would walk into their defence right now, and that's saying something.
Not only is he a good defender, but he's an aerial threat, something which Farke's side have lacked from set-pieces at times this season.
However, Leeds are now said to internally appreciate Diomande, who Sporting CP values at around £43million.
Though it would be a lot of money to spend on one centre-back, the Whites could essentially sign two for the price of one here.
The links to Ivorian don't necessarily rule out any move for Doekhi, nor does it suggest against Leeds signing both of them.
If it comes down to it, this is who Leeds should sign
Leeds will need to make a decision one way or another, as the need for a new centre-back has been clear in early transfer rumours.
The last thing the 49ers can afford to be is hesitant, especially in a window where the Whites need to build on the positives from last season.
That being said, it will be a tricky window for Paraag Marathe and Co., who need to carefully navigate through the summer while being compliant with the new SCR rules.
Doekhi would be the obvious target to aim for due to him being available for free, but his ceiling isn't as high as Diomande's is.
But Leeds are not at a stage where they can take big gamble's like that, and instead should make a safe move to ensure they stay within limits and improve.
