Leeds United handed transfer boost amid £21m twist on Everton ace Beto

Leeds United are keen on attacking reinforcements this summer and have identified Everton striker Beto as an option.

The Guinea-Bissau international became a first-team regular at the Toffees last season and he scored eight league goals.

Beto still has two years left on his contract but could leave Everton amid links to Leeds.

Everton open to selling Beto for £21million

According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri (9 June), the Toffees will not rule out selling the 27-year-old for a £21million fee this summer.

He’s understood to fit the profile of the type of striker Leeds want to sign in the coming weeks.

The Premier League forward provides a 1.94m frame, is powerful and an attacking threat with regards to set pieces.

He is also admired by Gary Lineker, who has been impressed with his resurgence under David Moyes.

Lineker told BBC’s Match of the Day on 11 May: “I think he’s a very good second option. He’s proved that since Moyes has come in. He works so hard for the team and his movement is actually quite good, as you see here, that’s a good run off his defender.

“With Beto, he’s been brilliant since David Moyes has come in, they needed someone who’s powerful and strong up front.”

Leeds United must avoid signing Beto this summer

Leeds should steer clear of signing Beto due to his inconsistent performances and the club’s need for reliable attacking options in their push for Premier League promotion.

The 27-year-old striker has struggled for consistency, scoring only 15 goals in 71 appearances for the Toffees.

His physicality suits the Premier League’s demands, but his erratic finishing and limited creativity, evidenced by just two assists, raise doubts about his ability to lead Leeds’ attack.

With Joel Piroe not quite ready to be a regular in the Premier League and Mateo Joseph’s inexperience, Leeds require dependable goal-scorers.

Focusing on alternatives aligns with Daniel Farke’s high-intensity system and PSR constraints, ensuring the Whites bolster their squad effectively without risking funds on Beto’s unpredictability.

They have been linked with a few other options and they’d be better suited to making a move for someone else this summer.
