Leeds United: Graham Smyth makes ‘huge’ admission as Finlay Gorman exit news emerges

Graham Smyth has admitted that the lure of Finlay Gorman leaving for Manchester City is “obvious” after Leeds United exit news has emerged.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist was responding to the news his company reported on Tuesday (17 October) that the Citizens have shown “significant interest” in the 15-year-old Whites winger.

Smyth tweeted on Tuesday that the England U-16 international, who plays for Leeds U-18s, would have to consider whether to decide to remain in West Yorkshire and potentially have more first-team opportunities or become one of a “huge cast” with the Premier League champions.

Difficult

This could be a difficult choice for Gorman depending on how he feels about Leeds and his desire to one day play for the first team at Elland Road.

There is no doubt that his chances of making his senior debut with the Whites would likely come his way well before that opportunity would open up with Man City.

But the Citizens do have an excellent academy and could help improve massively over the next couple of years, so it’s a balancing act of what he wants.

The teenager has been receiving rave reviews for his performances for the U-18s, having scored twice and laid on one assist in five games this season.

Whites fans have been very excited about the winger after a recent video emerged of him on social media, where he went on a mazy run from the halfway line.

It will now be a tense wait to see what decision he makes, but even if he does decide to stay at Elland Road, you would imagine it won’t be long before other clubs come calling for him again due to his obvious potential.
