Leeds United ‘fully approve’ Igor Paixao transfer as £25m-plus update emerges

Leeds United’s pursuit of Igor Paixao seems to be stepping up.

Daniel Farke is looking for a left-winger to replace Manor Solomon, who returned to Tottenham at the end of the season.

The Feyenoord star fits the bill, as he notched 18 goals and 19 assists in all competitions last season, with seven of those coming in the Champions League.

There is a familiar feeling for Elland Road supporters about signing a Brazilian winger after securing promotion, with Raphinha signed in similar circumstances in 2020.

Leeds set to advance Paixao transfer

It seems as though the Whites are set to speed up their pursuit of the left winger as Farke looks to bolster his squad for the Premier League.

Marseille were interested in the ex-Coritiba man, but the English outfit have the advantage in the race for his signature.

Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri (17 July) claims that the Whites have approved the transfer of Paixao, deeming him a player who can make an immediate impact.

He states that they are hesitant about the fee of £25.9million that the Dutch side are demanding for the Brazilian.

Paixao can be new star at Leeds

Raphinha became a star at Leeds, ultimately moving to Barcelona for £55million after two seasons in LS11.

Paixao has the potential to do the same as his compatriot, his numbers last season were remarkable, and it is no surprise that Farke and Co. want to sign him.

He would be able to take a significant amount of the goalscoring and creative burden off the likes of Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto and Joel Piroe in the Peacocks’ attack.

The 49ers still need to back Farke to bring in other recruits, such as a new goalkeeper and striker if the Yorkshire outfit are to stay in the top division, but Paixao would be a brilliant addition.

They could bring in Dominic Calvert-Lewin to ease the pressure on Piroe, leading the line in the top-flight, or Nikola Krstovic could be deemed a better signing due to the ex-Everton man’s injury history.

One thing is for sure though, Paixao, if he is signed, cannot be the only big attacking signing that they make.
