Leeds finalising signing of Mateo Joseph Fernandez – Phil Hay
Leeds United are to seal their first signing of the January transfer window with Mateo Joseph Fernandez arriving from Espanyol.
Phil Hay has reported that the young striker will initially join up with the under-23s rather than the first team at Thorp Arch.
This comes after reports from Sky Sports that Fernandez was undergoing his medical at Thorp Arch this morning.
Victor Orta is constantly looking to strengthen the academy at Thorp Arch alongside his work for first-team signings.
Fernandez has been linked for months now, and it looks as though a deal is finally about to be over the line for the attacker.
Hopefully, this kickstart the rest of January, with fans desperate for more signings for the first-team and Marcelo Bielsa.

Fernandez will be given time to settle, but he will also have the responsibility to fill the big shoes left behind by Gelhardt under Jackson’s watchful eye.
Orta looks to have got this one across the line early, and now he has more than 25 days to get some fresh faces into the first team – fingers crossed.
