Leeds United favourites as breakthrough emerges in Owen Wijndal chase
Leeds United are understood to be the most serious candidate ahead of Galatasaray and Rayo Vallecano to sign Ajax left-back Owen Wijndal, according to Transfer Watch.
The Dutch news outlet reported on 28 August that the 24-year-old has set his sights on moving to England ahead of the transfer deadline.
Ajax are understood to be keen on resolving the situation quickly and may look to make a decent payday from the sale of the Netherlands international. [AD]
Leeds United appear to be closing in on the transfer of Owen Wijndal
Wijndal wanting to move to England is half the battle won for Leeds and they must now do what it takes to get this deal over the line as soon as possible.
The 24-year-old is highly rated and despite Ajax loaning him out last season, would still strengthen the first team at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke will be looking to bring in quality reinforcements in multiple areas of the pitch given the number of players the Whites have sold this summer.
While left-back was not an immediate position that needed to be upgraded on, adding Wijndal gives the Whites a little more hope to secure promotion.
It remains to be seen how expensive this deal is as Ajax are seemingly keen on securing a decent amount from his sale.

Hopefully, Leeds get this one over the line and continue work on signing at least three or four players before the transfer deadline.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been offered a Crystal Palace sensation and sources claim that a Championship loan move is very likely.
