Leeds United face fresh Victor Orta battle as summer transfer target emerges

Leeds United are set to face competition from Victor Orta and Sevilla to sign Couhaib Driouech from Excelsior this summer.

The Eredivisie outfit are looking to secure a “higher transfer fee” with plenty of interest in the Moroccan from across Europe, according to Voetbal Zone.

Marco Timmer reported (11 June) that Leeds and Sevilla are battling between themselves and PSV to sign the 22-year-old with Orta in charge of the Spanish side’s transfers.

Excelsior are demanding a fee in the region of £3.3million for the winger, which they have asked for since the January transfer window.

Leeds United battle Victor Orta for Couhaib Driouech

After missing out on promotion at the hands of Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley, the Whites could lose some key talent this summer.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto may depart as Leeds look to bring in transfer funds and deal with financial issues.

The investment of Red Bull has certainly eased any concerns and now Daniel Farke can look at the market and consider his options.

Given that top European sides like PSV and Sevilla are interested in signing Driouech, he must have something special to offer.

With the quality of move he could get, a transfer to the Championship may be unlikely but could allow him to develop in England which is a prospect for foreign talent.

The Moroccan scored six and assisted six in the Eredivisie last season across 26 appearances [FotMob] so could flourish in the second tier.

If the likes of Summerville and Gnonto depart, Driouech could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for Farke and Co.

The only problem is persuading the player to choose Elland Road over Sevilla, making for a new battle with Orta this summer.
