Leeds United are interested in signing West Ham United striker Danny Ings, according to Darren Witcoop.

The transfer journalist reported live via talkSPORT [26 August, 6:49pm] that the 32-year-old is no longer part of Julen Lopetegui's plans at the London Stadium, with Leeds and Burnley tipped to sign him.

This comes after news emerged earlier on Monday 26 August that the Hammers are in talks over terminating Ings' contract [TBR Football].

"There's a lot of interest in Danny Ings. I think this one will come down to money, as it often does. Danny Ings wants to play and isn't in the picture at West Ham in the long term," Witcoop said.

"He'd be a good signing for clubs in the Championship. Looking at teams who have money to spend, you cannot look past Burnley and Leeds in the hunt for his signature. Leeds are in the mix for Ings."

Leeds United to sign Danny Ings from West Ham United?

Ings has struggled to make an impact since arriving at the London Stadium, only making a handful of appearances under David Moyes, and his future looks even bleaker under Lopetegui.

While the 32-year-old has plenty of Championship experience, and even boasts 71 Premier League goals, many fans will feel that the striker position is not where reinforcements are needed before the transfer window slams shut on 30 August.

Daniel Farke has lost the attacking threats of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, and although Largie Ramazani is a huge boost in the final third, Leeds need more before the window closes.

The aforementioned duo were unstoppable in the Championship last season, registering a total of 25 goals and 24 assists between them, and the squad now has several holes to fill.

Neither of those two players are strikers, however, and Mateo Joseph is thriving in his new role at centre-forward, with Patrick Bamford now taking a spot on the bench.

If Ings is to be signed this summer, it should be for his experience, rather than bringing him straight into the starting XI.
