Leeds United eye January deal for Chelsea player who Marcelo Bielsa once raved about
Leeds United are reportedly weighing up a move to sign wantaway Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling in January.
Daniel Farke is under huge pressure at Leeds, with the Whites having lost four of their last five Premier League games.
And with a run of fixtures that includes the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool approaching, the German could well be packing his bags before Christmas.
Leeds are expected to be active in the winter transfer window, however, with decision-makers at Elland Road preparing for all possibilities.
Manor Solomon could return to Leeds in January, with the winger struggling for minutes on loan at Villarreal – and surprise news has now emerged on a possible move for Sterling.

Leeds United eye Raheem Sterling deal
Leeds are linked with a move to sign Troy Parrott in January, with attackers clearly on the wishlist for Farke.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin arrived in the summer but has failed to hit the ground running at Elland Road after taking over from Joel Piroe through the middle.
| Leeds United | Premier League 2025-26 | League rank |
| Goals | 10 | 18th |
| Goals per game | 0.9 | 18th |
| Expected goals (xG) | 13.1 | 13th |
| Big chances | 22 | 10th |
| Big chances missed | 17 | 8th |
It has often been the attack which has let Farke’s side down, with the Whites scoring just 10 goals from an expected 13.1 in the Premier League.
Now, Leeds have identified another potential solution to their goal-scoring woes. Sportsboom reported on Wednesday that the Whites are among the teams preparing a move for Sterling.
Crystal Palace are also among the interested parties, with the 30-year-old expected to be available on a cut-price deal.
Sterling spent last season on loan at Arsenal, but has failed to make an appearance for Chelsea since returning to Stamford Bridge.
Marcelo Bielsa was a fan of Sterling
Leeds drew 1-1 with Manchester City at Elland Road in 2020, with Sterling himself opening the scoring with a superb goal before Rodrigo found the equaliser.
Speaking before the game, Marcelo Bielsa had sung the winger’s praises. “I think that Sterling is a great attacker, playing out wide or through the middle, he’s a goal-scorer,” the Argentine said.
Sterling would go on to score 14 goals across all competitions that season, but the winger has struggled to recreate that form since making the move to Chelsea in 2022.
Maybe, just maybe, a new lease of life further down the Premier League table could see the England international get back to being the player he once was.
