Leeds United eye Falaye Sacko transfer as Archie Gray replacement
Leeds United are eyeing Falaye Sacko from Montpellier as a replacement for Archie Gray, according to Africa Foot.
The online outlet reported on Saturday (July 6) that Sacko, a 29-year-old defender from Mali, has been performing well in Ligue 1 and is attracting attention not only from Leeds but also from Crystal Palace and other European clubs.
The Whites are in search of a new right-back after losing a few players in that role, including Connor Roberts, Luke Ayling and the versatile Archie Gray.
Sacko’s experience – he’s played 63 times in Ligue 1 – and versatility make him a valuable target for the Whites as they gear up for another promotion push under Daniel Farke.
Do Leeds United really need Falaye Sacko?
Leeds are looking to beef up their defence after Gray’s move to Tottenham Hotspur. They’ve already locked in Joe Rodon permanently in a big coup.
Now, they’re eyeing Sacko from Montpellier. Bringing in the Mali international could add depth and experience to the Whites’ backline, but they’re up against competition from Crystal Palace and others.
However, it will not be seen as a disaster if the move falls through. With Rodon already secured, Leeds are looking good defensively, especially that the former Tottenham player can be used as a centre-back and a right-back.

Rodon, therefore, adds versatility and experience to Leeds’ defence. He is also strong in distributing the ball and winning aerial battles, which makes the Whites’ defence more solid.
This is a deal that could make sense on the face of it, but only if at the right price.
