Leeds United eye Dennis Cirkin transfer as Sunderland stance emerges
Leeds United are keen on a deal for Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin although the Black Cats are said to be uninterested in selling their talent in January, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The report in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (10 November, pg 69) states that Leeds are “keen” on Cirkin who has been outstanding for Sunderland so far this campaign.
However, Sunderland will not be cashing in on their talent when January arrives, the report claims.
Dennis Cirkin signing would be excellent for Leeds United
Junior Firpo has been a standout performer for Leeds this season, but with his future is up in the air, signing Cirkin could provide some much-needed defensive security.
Firpo’s contract is up at the end of the campaign and whether the club extend that deal is yet to be seen.
Cirkin has been one of Sunderland’s best performers, aiding the Black Cats to claim their position at the top of the Championship and he would add some quality depth to the Whites’ squad, if not an immediate improvement.

Although, with Sunderland chasing promotion, it is highly unlikely they would sell key players. Added to that, it is even more unlikely that they would sell to a direct promotion rival which Leeds certainly are.
January will provide an interesting proposition for Daniel Farke’s side who will undoubtedly have to fight off interest in current players, but also serves them a great opportunity to strengthen their squad as they look to return to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, Graham Smyth believes Manor Solomon is “trying too hard” after watching the winger become frustrated against QPR on Saturday.
