Leeds United eye deadline-busting move for Edvin Austbo as response to £11m+ bid shared

Edvin Austbo has emerged as a deadline day target for Leeds United.

Signing a new striker to compliment Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the priorty for Leeds this winter, after after Jorgen Strand Larsen agreed terms with Crystal Palace, any chance of that happening has been diminished.

However, the Whites are still working on deals with the hope of getting them concluded before the 7pm deadline.

Austbo is the latest to be linked with a move to Elland Road, with a bid already submitted for the Norwegian youth international.

Viking respond to bid for new Leeds United target

Signing players from Scandinavia has brought plenty of success to clubs in the Premier League over the years, and Leeds are the latest to be scouting that region.

A report from Aftenbladet states that the Whites have shown an interest in Norwegian winger Austbo, who has also attracted interest from Sunderland and Bayer Leverkusen.

It’s also claimed that Viking have rejected a bid worth over £11million for the 20-year-old, though it is uncealr where that bid has come from.

Austbo scored six goals and registered five assists for Viking in 2025, playing a crucial role in them topping the league table.

In his season prior, he managed four goal contribtions in nine first team appearances.

Leeds have just over four hours to conclude a deal, not just for Austbo, but also anyone else they want to bring to Elland Road.

Leeds could be looking to bolster another area of their squad

Aside from the need for a new striker, Leeds are also in desperate need to sign a new goalkeeper, with Lucas Perri, Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier clearly not good enough.

Darlow was at fault for at least one of the goals in the Whites’ 4-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, sparking more worry about the goalkeeping options that Daniel Farke has at his disposal.

With Meslier now linked with a late exit from Leeds, the need for that area to be bolstered may be increased in the final hours of the window.

Besiktas are said to be debating a late move for the Frernchman, who is now third-choice at Elland Road after almost costing his side promotion from the Championship last season.
