Leeds United eye blockbuster summer move to sign Tammy Abraham

Leeds United are already drawing up a list of potential summer signings should they achieve promotion.

Despite Leeds failing to recruit at all in January, they remain on course to achieve promotion back to the Premier League with 13 games left to be played.

A huge win against Sunderland extended their advantage at the top, with third-placed Burnley now seven points behind them, heading into the most important period of the season.

With that in mind, Leeds will already be keeping an eye on future transfer decisions as they look towards a move for a striker with two Champions League goals this season.

Tammy Abraham linked with Elland Road switch

According to TBR (19 February), Leeds United have identified Tammy Abraham as a potential summer transfer target, although the likelihood is that any deal would hinge on their ability to get promoted.

Joel Piroe has been the starting striker at Leeds for the majority of the current campaign, though additions will be a necessity in the summer.

Abraham joined his current side Milan on loan from Roma, after a permanent exit from Chelsea in 2021 for a reported £34million [BBC Sport], and has netted on two occasions for the Italian giants in the Champions League while registering a total of 13 contributions across all competitions.

Having worked together at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho previously spoke highly of the Englishman – calling him “amazing” [Sky Sports] – before they both went their separate ways.

Since his move to Italy, Abraham has mustered a total of 63 goal contributions in 152 appearances, while featuring in all three European competitions.

Leeds United already preparing for life in the Premier League

While the primary focus has to be on achieving promotion in the first place, Leeds need to be prepared for all eventualities to ensure they can have the best start to the campaign next time round, regardless of which league they are in.

Should the Whites get promoted and if Abraham were to sign, Leeds would immediately be on the front foot and chances of survival in England’s top flight would be greatly increased.

The upcoming summer window promises to be an exciting one, with that only likely to increase if Leeds can secure a return to the Premier League.
