Leeds United eye AFCON star Danny Namaso as fee for summer transfer already set
Danny Namaso has been added to Leeds United’s shortlist of attacking players they want to sign.
Leeds are set for a busy January transfer window as Daniel Farke looks to replace some of his stars with much better players in the final third.
Ruben Vargas is linked with a move to Leeds, with Tyrique George, Harry Wilson and Raheem Sterling also in the frame for a potential transfer to LS11.
Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Thursday was an excellent display of defensive resilience, but attacking improvements are still required at Elland Road.
Versatile attacker Namaso, who is on loan at Auxerre from FC Porto, has attracted some interest from the Whites, but the deal is in jeopardy due to a pre-arranged agreement with the French outfit.
Leeds transfer for Danny Namaso depends on Auxerre’s performances
Having come through Reading’s academy, he made a name for himself at Porto, before being shipped out on loan to Auxerre for more consistent game time this season.
Namaso has been performing very well in the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon, starting in attacking midfield, but also able to play on the left wing.
According to Africa Foot, Leeds United and Real Betis are monitoring the 25-year-old, whose loan is valid until the end of this season.

Auxerre have the right to exercise a £4.35million deal for 60 per cent of Namaso’s rights.
This option will become mandatory if the French club remain in Ligue 1 and the player plays at least 60 per cent of the game minutes during that period.
His latest game for Cameroon was in their 2-1 win over Mozambique on 31 December to ensure they finished second in Group F.
He will next be in action on 4 December when Cameroon take on South Africa in the round of 16, and Leeds fans can watch him in action on 4seven, the Channel 4 website, or the Channel 4 Sport YouTube channel.

What type of player is Namaso?
Namaso has only registered three goal contributions this season, but he boasts an impressive record for Porto that spans across five years.
A direct player that traditionally features on the left wing in club football, the 25-year-old scored 14 goals in 106 appearances for Porto.
He previously played 22 games for in England’s youth setup, scoring seven goals before making the switch to represent Cameroon in March 2025.
For Cameroon, he adopts a central role, and although he is still looking for his first senior international goal, he has proved himself to be an important addition to the team at AFCON.
At 182cm tall, he is an aerial threat from deeper positions, and fits the bill of exactly what Leeds would need to improve their squad.
