Leeds United explore ways to sign ex-Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali
Leeds United are “exploring ways to sign” Huesca attacking midfielder Kelechi Nwakali, according to AllNigeriaSoccer.
The Nigerian news outlet claims Watford, Osasuna and Levante are also in the hunt sign the 23-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Alcorcon.
It is understood that Huesca were thrilled with Nwakali’s progress during that loan spell and now want him to sign a new contract.
However, he’s reportedly keen to move elsewhere so he stands a better chance of making the Nigeria squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Yet another arrival from Spain?
When your director of football is Spanish, it’s no shock to see him dipping his toes into the Spanish transfer window.
Leeds have done a lot of business with Spanish clubs during Victor Orta’s time at Elland Road with the Whites regularly sending players on loan to Spanish second-tier clubs.
We’ve also signed players from there before – how long ago does it feel since we signed Samu Saiz?

Could Nkwakali be yet another addition from Spain for us?
We could do with additions in the centre of the midfield and while the Nigerian is an attacking midfielder, someone of his ilk wouldn’t go amiss.
But in all honesty, we’d want someone who’s done more than Nwakali in a top European league.
At the end of the day, he’s 23 and just been sent out on loan to a second-tier club in Spain while his parent club was relegated from La Liga.
We can do better.
