Leeds United expect Cody Drameh to reject new contract offer at Elland Road
Leeds United expect Cody Drameh to reject the offer of a new contract at Elland Road this summer and leave the club, according to Leeds-Live.
Writing on their website (2 July), the news outlet report that the club have offered the 22-year-old full-back fresh terms with his current deal expiring officially at the weekend.
They are yet to hear back from him, but the expectation is he won’t agree new terms with the Whites after spending last season on loan at Birmingham while there is a belief that an offer may have been made just to ensure the club receive compensation from whichever club he ends up signing for due to his age.
Leeds United to lose Cody Drameh on a free transfer
It’s a decision that most fans have come to expect now, because in reality Drameh’s future at the club was sealed by a decision made last summer.
Daniel Farke gave him a small window of opportunity at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign but he failed to impress and was allowed to leave on loan, despite having just 12 months remaining on his deal.
That suggests the club don’t see a future for him, considering they took a similar stance in January with Ian Poveda and Luke Ayling whose permanent exits have now been confirmed too.

Making him an offer to secure compensation is a pure business decision and makes a lot of sense from the club’s point of view, but in reality there was no chance of him staying beyond the summer.
Full-back is a position that needs strengthening, but Drameh isn’t the solution and it makes sense for all parties for them to go their separate ways now.
