Leeds United make approach for Christoper Wooh, permanent transfer on cards

Leeds United have enquired about the availability of Stade Rennais defender Christopher Wooh ahead of the January transfer window, according to JeunesFooteux.

The French news outlet reported on 28 December that Leeds are one of “several European teams” to have made an approach as they chase defensive reinforcements in January.

Rennes’ priority remains a permanent transfer and Leeds could offer Wooh a route out as they look to strengthen their hopes of achieving promotion.

Wooh is “struggling to justify” his move to Rennes and the club may look to offload him in the coming weeks.

Leeds United need to prioritise attacking signings

While all areas of the pitch can be improved, the signing of a striker should be a priority and it could be a slight concern to see any rumours of an addition die down recently.

Dor Turgeman was linked with a move to Elland Road (Sport5) and that did provide some optimism although the lack of updates since begs the question of where Leeds’ priorities lie.

Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph have all failed to have a regular influence in games and the signing of a striker could provide them with that extra boost to get them over the promotion line.

Leeds United fans at Elland Road

Given Wooh’s stature in French football, he could be a shrewd addition to what is already an excellent defensive lineup at Elland Road with the potential to get even better.

The next few weeks will undoubtedly be busy with the Whites likely to be active in the transfer window as they look to maintain their spot at the summit of the Championship.
