Leeds United defender set to join Scottish club as manager speaks out
Leeds United youngster Kris Moore is on trial with St Johnstone with a view of joining the club on loan, Simo Valakari has confirmed.
The 21-year-old is set to train with the Scottish Premiership side over the coming days.
The defender could be set to join the Saints on a loan deal until the end of the campaign if he can impress Valakari during his trial, with his Elland Road deal due to expire in the summer.
Speaking to The Courier [21 January], the St Johnstone boss confirmed his arrival as he said: “We have a young centre-back, Kris Moore, training with us this week so we can have a look at him.
“He has come recommended for us so it will be interesting to see how he gets on. He has played for Leeds United’s U23s team so we will watch him in training then see what we think.”
Kris Moore set for Leeds United exit
Although he has captained the Whites’ U23s side, the 21-year-old has failed to get a look in at a first-team level at Elland Road so it’s not surprising to see a departure on the horizon.
Furthermore, with the West Yorkshire outfit looking up the table towards promotion to the Premier League this term, Daniel Farke will be more focused on calling on players who he knows can deliver at the next level.
The defender is out of contract at the end of the season so a move away at this point will dictate what happens regarding his future in the summer.
St Johnstone are a struggling side this term and look destined for doom as they sit at the bottom of the table, nine points away from Hearts above them.

However, that clearly means that the Saints need new faces in the door and Valakari seems open to the possibility of Moore being what they need.
If the young player can impress during his trial, he could gain himself the opportunity to get first-team football under his belt for the remainder of the campaign.
