Leeds United defender Laurens De Bock is Victor Orta's biggest flop, leaving this summer

Laurens De Bock has been a Leeds United player since 2018 but after a host of loan spells, he is finally set to leave the club for good.

According to Belgian news outlet HLN, the 29-year-old will sign a one year deal with Zulte Waregem, the team he is currently on loan at, this summer with the option for a further year.

The former Belgian Under-21 international played just seven times during his time in Yorkshire as he was very quickly loaned out to Oostende after his arrival at the club.

Brief spells at Sunderland and ADO Den Haag followed that before he joined Zulte Waregem in 2020, where he is now the club captain.

De Bock was signed just before Marcelo Bielsa arrived at the club and the Argentine quickly had Barry Douglas, Tom Pearce and Leif Davis ahead of him in the pecking order at left-back and with his four and a half year deal now ending this summer, his time as a Leeds player is done.

If we’re really honest, De Bock should have been sold at least two seasons ago once we got promoted to the Premier League because he was never going to be a useful player for us.

The majority of Leeds fans have probably forgotten he was still a Leeds player and you can imagine that Jesse Marsch is similarly unaware of his existence and soon it won’t matter anyway.

There might not have been many worse signings in our club’s entire history and there can’t have been many as underwhelming as this in the entirety of the beautiful game.

With Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas the current pair of left-backs at Marsch’s disposal, you can see why he wasn’t all that bothered by bringing De Bock back to Elland Road for pre-season.

He will no doubt go down as one of the most forgettable Leeds United players of all time but at least we can finally stop paying his wages after four years of wasted cash.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites need to keep their pursuit of this EFL star up after what his manager said after their season finished.
