Leeds United defender Cody Drameh wanted by Premier League clubs – report

Leeds United defender Cody Drameh is wanted by Premier League clubs, but Cardiff are ‘well-placed’ to extend his loan deal according to Wales Online.

Drameh joined the Welsh club on loan in January against the advice of then-manager Marcelo Bielsa, but has shone in the Championship with regular minutes.

Now according to a report, the player has ‘no intention’ of returning to Leeds to play under-23’s football and that could see him earn a move elsewhere.

Unnamed Premier League clubs are interested in a deal after his impressive form in the Championship, while some second-tier teams are also keeping an eye on him.

But Cardiff believe they are ‘well-placed’ to seal a deal that would see him return to the Liberty Stadium next season, although Leeds won’t are unlikely to make a decision before the team gather for pre-season in the summer.

Decisions, decisions

This is a big summer for the future of Leeds United, especially if they manage to obtain survival and maintain their Premier League status.

The squad is ageing and also in a position where several players are approaching a period of their contract where decisions need to be made, and that includes Drameh.

The young full-back will have two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road, but has shown that he is now ready for more regular football and that he is willing to go elsewhere to get it.

Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are unlikely to be displaced as first-choice so soon, but the likes of Junior Firpo could find themselves on the outskirts of the team and that would give Drameh a big opportunity in the Premier League.

If there isn’t space for him, then the club should let him go so they can see his development continue elsewhere for another year rather than watching him stall.
