Leeds United deals in the works with significant signings to arrive before transfer deadline
Leeds United have plenty of money to spend and will make “significant signings” before the transfer window, according to Simon Grayson.
The former Elland Road boss wrote in his column for the Football League Paper on 25 August that he is “certain” there will be a lot of money to spend after selling stars Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville and is expects various deals to already be in the works.
The Whites have already signed Largie Ramazani from Almeria but Grayson expects much more still.
He wrote: “Some of that money will be used to meet Profit and Sustainability Rules, but they will also have plenty to spend, I’m certain of that…
“I’m positive they’ve got a few irons in the fire. Clubs in the Championship and Premier League are already looking at the next window, never mind this one. Losing players now just brings those plans forward…
“I do think they’ll make significant signings before the window shuts, though, and if they don’t then fans will have every right to question the owners. I just hope they don’t turn on the manager Daniel Farke”.
Daniel Farke set for Leeds United haul after Largie Ramazani?
Leeds completed a medical for Tottenham’s Manor Solomon [Shay Lugassi, 25 August] but the deal was not then announced, which had put some fans on edge.
But David Ornstein has now reported for The Athletic that late interest from elsewhere has been overcome and the deal will now go through at Elland Road.
Grayson may believe the transfer planning looks way ahead but if that was the case it is fair to wonder why the 49ers didn’t see fit to have immediate replacements lined up if release clauses were triggered for the likes of Rutter and Summerville.
A bid of £13million has been made to Sheffield United for Gustavo Hamer but has been met with a decidedly unimpressed response [The Star, 26 August].

And Max Aarons is once again on the agenda [Yorkshire Evening Post, 26 August] after Bournemouth stole him away from the Whites last year when he’d already arrived for a medical.
If Leeds continue to add late deals as they did last summer the window can end on a positive note, and fans will hope there might be a late blockbuster to come.
But it is surely fair to wonder why it has been left so late, and so frantic, when the club must have known they were at risk of losing the stars of the campaign from last year.
In other Leeds United news, Farke has issued an update on Patrick Bamford’s status for the day after the window shuts.
