Leeds United deal to sign Harry Souttar ‘off’
A move for Leicester City centre-back Harry Souttar to Leeds United on Deadline Day is now off, according to Joe Donnohue.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on X on Thursday (1 February) that the Foxes do not want to strengthen a promotion rival.
Leicester currently sit top of the Championship table, 12 points ahead of Leeds, who occupy fourth place, with Ipswich Town and Southampton in second and third respectively.
Unsurprising
There will be several twists and turns still to come on Deadline Day, but this stance from Leicester is not one of them.
It would be an extremely foolish move for the Foxes to allow a player to leave for a direct rival, regardless of his standing at the King Power Stadium.
The Whites have been busy as the transfer window draws to a close, but it seems that Souttar will not be arriving at Elland Road.
And that should not be a huge blow to Daniel Farke, with regular duo Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon doing a fine job at the back this season.
Versatile midfielder Ethan Ampadu meanwhile has dropped back to help out when needed, while veteran defender Liam Cooper is a valuable option should he be required.

Leicester really have been in fine form this season, and it looks like they will not be toppled anytime soon. They have a 10-point lead over Ipswich, although the Tractor Boys do have a game in hand.
In other Leeds United news, a player is set to jet in from France to ignite a last-gasp Whites signing, depending on a medical.
