Leeds United deadline day plans emerge after Isaac Schmidt transfer developments
Leeds United expect Isaac Schmidt to be their last incoming before the transfer window slams shut, according to Graham Smyth.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Friday (30 August) that the Whites’ expectation heading into the final hours of the window is that the fullback will be the last addition to Daniel Farke’s side.
Ao Tanaka’s arrival has already been confirmed at Elland Road on deadline day, while reports suggest that Schmidt is on his way to the UK to seal his move to Leeds having played and scored for St Gallen on Thursday [Graham Smyth, 30 August].
Will Leeds United make any new signings before the transfer deadline?
Most Leeds United supporters would have been hoping for at least one more new arrival at Elland Road before the transfer window slams shut, but that seems incredibly unlikely to be the case in the final hours of the window.
On the whole, the Whites have added to their squad well having lost several key players early on in the summer. It was always going to be hard to replace the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, but Farke and his team have done a good job.
Tanaka should add a new dimension in the middle of the park, while Manor Solomon has shown that he has the quality to shine in the Premier League, let alone the Championship.
Schmidt, along with Jayden Bogle, should bolster the Whites defensively while it was crucial that Joe Rodon’s loan switch was made permanent.
Of course, supporters will have been frustrated to see so many stars of last season head out of the door following the playoff final defeat, but on the whole, they have had a successful window considering the cards that they’ve been dealt.
It would just cap it off if one more last-minute attacking addition could be made out of nowhere.
