Leeds United: Daniel Farke stance emerges on Charlie Cresswell exit at Elland Road

Daniel Farke has revealed that Leeds United would potentially be open to offers for Charlie Cresswell in the January transfer window.

The Whites boss said in his press conference on Thursday (11 January, via Phil Hay) that the 21-year-old won’t be allowed to leave easily, but that the club will “consider it” if the centre-back asks for a transfer and an acceptable bid comes in for him.

The German admitted that the England U-21 international is “lacking focus” and won’t be involved at Elland Road until that improves.

Concerning

This is quite a concerning development because it sounds as though there are issues behind the scenes between Farke and Cresswell.

It won’t come as a massive surprise to many, though, as the defender has only played one minute of football since August and that came against QPR back in October.

While he is thought to be one of the most talented youngsters at the club, the Leeds manager is clearly taking no prisoners and wants to see his players earn their place in his side.

Leeds United

The only slight concern is that this issue may potentially cause problems in the second half of the season and could derail the Whites’ promotion hopes if it isn’t resolved.

Perhaps the best solution could be for him to go out on loan to get the playing time he understandably wants and then review the situation again in the summer.
