Leeds United: Crysencio Summerville makes transfer admission amid Premier League verdict

Leeds United Crysencio Summerville admits it is “nice to hear” his name linked with other clubs because it shows he is “on the right track” at Elland Road.

The Dutch winger, 22, has been in phenomenal form for the high-flying Whites in the Championship this season, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in the league for Daniel Farke’s side.

Premier League sides Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton were among the teams linked with a move in the January transfer window, though a bid never materialised.

Summerville said he thinks the Premier League is the best competition in the world but that his focus for now is on helping Leeds get back to the top table.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur (18 February), Summerville said: “I get a few things here and there when friends and family send me articles. I don’t look at it extra myself. I’m a boy who first works harder and only looks at it later.

“When I have a meeting with my agents, I hear some things here and there. I think that’s nice to hear. It indicates that I’m on the right track, that things are going well. For now I’m focusing on our goal and that is to put Leeds back where they belong: the Premier League. In the meantime, I don’t want any distractions.

“I have of course already experienced it, and then I really realised that I was playing in the most beautiful league in the world, and that the Premier League is really a top competition.”

Will Crysencio Summerville depart Leeds United this summer?

Summerville has been absolutely top drawer for Leeds this season and it has begged the question of whether he will remain at Elland Road long-term.

It seems a pretty simple equation where the flying Dutchman is concerned. Get promoted back the Premier League and he likely stays in West Yorkshire. Fail to get back to the big party and, well, there will be no shortage of top-flight suitors for his signature.

But the good news is that Leeds are absolutely flying under Daniel Farke having chalked up an eighth straight Championship victory on Saturday by beating Plymouth Argyle 2-0.

That leaves them second ahead of Southampton, albeit the Saints have a game in hand over the Whites. It promises to be an extremely exciting end to the season over the next few months.

Let’s just hope the Whites can win that particular race and give themselves the best possible chance of keeping hold of Summerville long-term.
