Leeds United: Crysencio Summerville future ‘Up in the air’ amid Atletic Madrid transfer interest
Crysencio Summerville’s Leeds United future is “up in the air” amid interest from European heavyweights Atletico Madrid, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Writing on their website (6 April), the Spanish news outlet report that the La Liga giants are keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old winger ahead of a potential summer transfer.
The Whites want Summerville to stay and are expected to offer him a new long-term contract to fend off interested parties, but he will only stay if the club get promoted back to the Premier League and the “coming weeks will be key” to his future.
Summerville’s Leeds exit inevitable without promotion?
Leeds United fans are passionate and can sometimes be blinded by loyalty and love, but they’re not stupid.
If the team don’t get back into the top flight this season, there is every chance that this squad will be ripped up because vultures from the Premier League and Europe’s top divisions will be swooping to take the best players.
Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Wilfried Gnonto and Archie Gray have all been linked with top moves before, but Summerville is arguably the crown jewel at Elland Road after his performances this season.

His current contract at the club runs until 2026, meaning he will only have two years remaining and that is usually peak time for a club to cash in on an asset to get maximum value.
Without Premier League football it would be incredibly difficult to keep him at the club, and that makes promotion even more important ahead of the summer transfer window.
In other Leeds news, another Elland Road star could leave this summer amid interest from Europe’s elite.
