Leeds United: Crycensio Summerville admits speaking to ‘many people’ ahead of ‘important’ transfer call

Crysencio Summerville has admitted he spoke to many people, including his agent, ahead of his decision to stay at Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman confessed the most important thing for him was to play regular football and enjoy himself which led him to agree to remain at Elland Road despite interest from elsewhere.

Leeds will be grateful for his decision after the flying form he has shown this season, with eight goals and six assists from 16 Championship games so far this season.

“I spoke with many people, also my agent, and we made a decision,” Summerville told the Yorkshire Evening Post [8 December]. “For me, I think it was very important to play, to enjoy myself and show my best version so it was good to stay with Leeds.

“I want to be a player for the fans, to come to the stadium for me. That’s what I’m building here, I’m building a name for myself in England, Leeds United as well. As a young kid I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League, obviously we play in the Championship now but I really like it here at Leeds.

“We are together now, we have one goal. We help each other a lot and the staff, the coaching is good so we can perform on the pitch.”

A mutually beneficial relationship

The final decision to remain at Elland Road this season has proved to be the best move both for Summerville and Leeds. He has played a huge part in their early-season form and is flying high with the club in their push for promotion this year.

The winger has been able to thrive with his natural flair and ability on the ball, as well as having the freedom to express himself and make things happen in and around the box to earn some big results and make the team a threat going into every game.

Daniel Farke

Not only has Summerville thrived under Farke in this system, but as a result he has pulled Leeds into promotion contention and a fantastic start to the season. It’s been a perfect decision from both points of view.

If the Dutchman is to leave Elland Road at any point, it will be as a result of his stellar performances at this level, having gained some valuable experience and shown just what he is capable of if given the trust of his boss.
