Newcastle United want Crysencio Summerville as £30m Leeds United exit news emerges

Leeds United will have to sell players up to a total of £100 million if they aren’t promoted to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported (16 May) that Crysencio Summerville is the “most likely departure” should they remain in the second tier.

It is understood that the 22-year-old Dutch winger “would command a fee in excess of £30million” with Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United keen on him.

Daniel Farke could face a firesale this summer if his side aren’t successful against Norwich after drawing 0-0 in the first leg.

Despite the sales of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha totalling £106m in recent seasons, another £100m is needed to “offset continued operating losses”.

Promotion to the Premier League could ease any immediate concerns but not completely solve their financial issues.

Who could Leeds United sell in the summer transfer window?

The obvious name is the aforementioned Summerville who would be an easily saleable asset in the summer window.

Given that he won Championship Player of the Season after scoring 19 and assisting nine [FotMob], there would be plenty of interest in his signature.

Another wideman that could garner some interest is Wilfried Gnonto who has been highly coveted by Premier League sides in the past.

He has only contributed to ten Championship goals this season [FotMob] which may result in a cut-price figure in the window.

Georginio Rutter has had a tough time in recent weeks but he would still be of interest to many teams given his age and goal output.

The Frenchman has scored six and provided a top-class 15 assists [FotMob] and at 22 years old he would bring in a decent fee.

These would cripple Leeds in an offensive sense but would certainly go some way to easing financial worries and helping avoid punishment.
