Leeds United: Confident Archie Gray transfer update emerges amid Borussia Dortmund interest

Leeds United are confident that Archie Gray will remain at Elland Road this summer despite growing transfer interest, according to GiveMeSport.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (7 April) that Daniel Farke’s side believe they will be able to avoid selling the 18-year-old at the end of the season, especially if they win promotion back to the Premier League.

Despite the growing interest, Leeds believe Premier League football at Elland Road will be the perfect opportunity for the midfielder to test himself at a higher level, without moving to an unfamiliar environment.

Reports emerged that Borussia Dortmund are keen on signing the teenager this summer [Alan Nixon, 7 April] while the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Liverpool have supposedly kept tabs on the Whites gem.

Will Leeds United sell Archie Gray during the summer transfer window?

If there wasn’t pressure on Leeds United to get promoted before, there certainly is now as the Whites will know that an immediate return to the Premier League will massively help their chances of keeping Gray at Elland Road.

The 18-year-old is a generational talent and while that is excellent for the Whites currently, it means that teams will be queuing up to sign him, especially after he impressed in the middle of the park with an “outstanding” display in the FA Cup clash with Chelsea.

Even if Leeds do win automatic promotion to the Premier League this season, teams will still believe that they can tempt Gray to leave Elland Road. Hopefully, the midfielder’s personal attachment to the Whites will play a part in his decision-making.

One thing that is certain is that the conversation around this transfer saga won’t be going anywhere until the transfer window slams shut. Only then will supporters and Leeds truly be confident that Gray won’t be going anywhere.
