Leeds United concretely interested in Noel Tornqvist in January transfer window

Leeds United are showing a “serious” interest in Noel Tornqvist ahead of the January transfer window, according to FotbollDirekt.

The Swedish outlet, reporting via their website on 25 December, described the Whites’ interest in signing the goalkeeper in January as “concrete”.

Daniel Farke’s side have attended several Allsvenskan matches to scout the 22-year-old and have a real chance of signing him next month, with Mjallby sporting director Hasse Larsson confirming there is interest in the player.

While there is no evidence of an offer yet, the price has been set at £1million.

Leeds’ interest in Tornqvist is not new as they were linked with a move for the Swede last October [fotbollskanalen].

Copenhagen, Genoa and Sassuolo have also been credited with an interest in the shot-stopper, although it was reported last year that he is keen on a move to English football.

The West Yorkshire outfit, therefore, have a good chance of acquiring Tornqvist’s services when the transfer window opens next week.

He has made 63 appearances across all competitions for Mjallby since joining them in January 2020, keeping 20 clean sheets in the process.

It is worth noting that the Elland Road club already have three senior goalkeepers in their ranks – Ilan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Alex Cairns.

It remains to be seen what Tornqvist’s signing would mean for those players.
