Leeds United have completed the signing of Brooklyn Nfonkeu from Manchester City on loan, according to LUFC Youth.

The unofficial news outlet posted on X (6 February) to reveal the news that the Leeds-born 17-year-old had arrived back at the club temporarily from the Etihad Stadium.

Daniel Farke endured a quiet winter transfer window with no new arrivals for his main squad, but things appear to be different at Thorp Arch now after a strange twist.

Leeds United transfer twist with Manchester City

The forward actually joins up with the Under-21 squad at Thorp Arch on a youth loan, returning to familiar surroundings having found a run of football at Man City difficult.

Nfonkeu has enjoyed steady progress since initially leaving Leeds' academy for Man City, making 11 appearances for the Under-18s and Elite Development Squad last season.

The attack-minded starlet is a versatile performer on both flanks and will spend a period back on his hometown side of the Pennines to enhance his individual development.

Nfonkeu signed his last contract with City last summer, and still predominantly plays U18 football with the U21 link-up back at Leeds designed to test his progress.

Daniel Farke not afraid to use Leeds academy

Leeds United have a superb array of stars - especially at Championship level - but have always had a compact squad this season.

As a result, the 20-strong matchday squad has often included teenage talents, some of whom have been introduced for their debuts this season by Daniel Farke.

While Nfonkeu is, as it stands, only back at Elland Road for a few months, his progress could catch the eye of the academy staff to the point Leeds enquire to reclaim him permanently from Man City.

There is a talented clutch of wide players to learn from for the youngster, with the likes of Dan James, Manor Solomon, Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani all competing for starting XI spots.

Leeds U21s currently sit 18th out of 26 in the Premier League 2 table, having won two of their last three in all competitions.
