Leeds United close to Glen Kamara signing from Rangers, £4m fee on the cards

Leeds United are close to completing the signing of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, according to The 4th Official.

The outlet reported on Monday (17 July) that Leeds will pay a fee in the region of £4m for Kamara, as well as add-ons and a 10 per cent sell-on fee.

The Yorkshire Evening Post had earlier said (17 July) that Kamara has been on Leeds’ radar for weeks, with midfield reinforcement needed following the departure of Marc Roca on loan to Real Betis.

Kamara is said to be surplus to requirements at Ibrox having slipped down the pecking order under Michael Beale.

Beale himself is in the process of undergoing an extensive recruitment drive, with no fewer than seven faces already in the door at Ibrox this window.

An excellent addition

It has been an extremely busy day for Leeds United and their supporters, with their incoming transfer business finally clicking into gear.

The likes of Roca, Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson have already departed on loan, but now there is movement in terms of incoming.

Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu is set to join, while Nat Phillips of Liverpool has also been strongly linked.

But the addition of Kamara is one for Leeds fans to be really enthralled by. He will add bite, energy and an eye for a pass to a team in need of a bit of steel for a tough Championship campaign to come.

There are other areas Leeds still need to target, of course, goalkeeper and left-back are two particularly problematic areas, while another striker may be needed to complement Patrick Bamford.

However, after weeks of uncertainty around the squad, things finally seem to be clicking into place for Leeds in terms of bringing bodies in.
