Leeds United close in on two new signings

Leeds United are getting close to signing a new midfielder and a new addition to their Under-23s squad, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.

Writing on the YEP’s website, Smyth reports that Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez is not someone Victor Orta wants to sign.

However, the Whites are edging towards an addition in that area of their squad, as well as the Under-23s.

Smyth said: “Leeds are currently moving closer to the signing of a midfielder but do also want to add to their wing options before the transfer window closes. The Whites are also close to signing one of their Under 23s targets.”

Who are they?

Leeds are not the only club that has had a slow start to the summer transfer window with most teams yet to do any business.

However, we’re also not hearing much in terms of names who are being linked with the Whites – not by established sources in the UK, anyway.

Leeds seem to be keeping their cards very close to their chest, with only the odd bit of solid information trickling out via the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Smyth is no doubt working hard to dig out the identity of the players who the club is reportedly trying to sign but it obviously isn’t easy.

Leeds had a really good first season back in the Premier League but they still need to add to their squad this summer if they want to continue the upward trajectory they’re on.

They need to add a left-back, they need a couple of central midfielders and a new striker to serve as Patrick Bamford’s back-up would also be great.

As always, Orta’s Under-23s project will continue with him digging out talent from across the UK and the rest of the world.

But the first team is the ultimate priority, especially in those aforementioned positions.

In other Leeds United news, this international player has declared his interest in signing for the Whites.
