Leeds United close in on Saturday deal to finalise mega Igor Paixao transfer

Leeds United look to be finally closing in on a deal for Igor Paixao.

The 49ers may be set to pull off another masterclass with the signing of Paixao from Feyenoord, with the Brazilian winger enjoying a stellar campaign last time out.

The 25-year-old scored a remarkable 16 goals and set up a further ten in the Eredivisie and has been dubbed the potential next Raphinha at Elland Road.

At one point, Marseille looked to be in pole position to land Paixao, but this does not appear to be the case any longer.

Paixao deal could be complete as soon as tonight

Following Manor Solomon’s exceptional season in United’s title-winning campaign, the need for a new left winger is clear now that he has returned to Tottenham.

Leeds could be set to land their replacement for Solomon as soon as Saturday evening (26 July), according to FeyenoordTM and Fabrizio Romano on X.

It is reported that Leeds and Feyenoord are closing in on a deal for Paixao this afternoon or evening.

The deal is not done yet, but it is really close to happening.

Without a doubt, this is the calibre of player Leeds must attract if they want to give themselves a fighting chance of staying in the Premier League next season, with Paixao being the Whites’ statement signing of the summer if the Brazilian signed for the West Yorkshire outfit.

Leeds recruitment is coming together nicely

With Jaka Bijol and Lucas Perri looking to be marquee signings for Leeds, Paixao would perhaps be the most exciting addition so far for the Elland Road faithful.

A new striker for Paixao to link up with should be the next priority for Leeds, with Rodrigo Muniz being a name linked with a move to LS11.

If United secure this calibre of signings, Farke has no excuses heading into the new season.

Keeping Leeds up will still be a tough ask, but if the German manager finds himself miles off the pace early into the season, sacking Farke will be a very likely possibility.

The 49ers look to be doing their bit; now it’s up to Farke to prove they made the right decision in allowing him to lead Leeds back into the Premier League.
